PN to decide on action against Kuala Kangsar MP soon, says Hamzah

KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional will decide on the necessary action against Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid for pledging support to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said a meeting will be held soon to discuss the matter and finalise their decision following the Bersatu MP’s announcement.

“In one or two days (we will meet), and after the meeting, there will be a decision,” he said when met at the Parliament lobby.

On Oct 12, Iskandar Dzulkarnain declared support for the Prime Minister, saying the move was to ease the burden faced by his constituents over the rising cost of living.

Iskandar Dzulkarnain, who voiced his loyalty to Bersatu, also claimed that the Prime Minister had said the allocation would be channelled to lawmakers supporting the unity government’s policies.

Hamzah, also Perikatan secretary-general, claimed that Iskandar had been intimidated and threatened into supporting Anwar.

Earlier Wednesday (Oct 18), Anwar called on Hamzah to furnish the necessary evidence that Iskandar was pressured into declaring his support for the unity government.

Anwar also stressed that he had never contacted, sent a representative or met Iskandar Dzulkarnain to discuss asking for his support.
