Three Kedah PAS members killed in accident near Tanjung Malim

IPOH: Three Wanita PAS members from Sungai Petani, Kedah were tragically killed while trying to assist another driver on the North-South Expressway near Tanjung Malim.

Muallim OCPD Supt Hasni Mohd Nasir said the deceased were identified as Sungai Petani PAS special young women’s unit chief Fatihah Nabila Bukri, 23; its Muslimah chief Taibah Sulaiman, 61; and the branch’s assistant secretary, Nurul Najihah Amzi, 27.

He said the three were on their way back to Sungai Petani after attending the PAS annual general assembly (Muktamar) in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Supt Hasni said police received a call about the accident at about 2.30pm on Friday (Oct 20).

He said initial investigations revealed that a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle from Kuala Lumpur went out of control and crashed in the drain on the left side of the expressway.

“Two motorcyclists, another car driver and the SUV driven by Fatihah stopped in the emergency lane to help.

“But five minutes later, another car going in the same direction went out of control on the right side of the expressway and hit them. All victims were flung into the drain,” he said.
