Anwar commends Japan’s stand on humanitarian assistance in Gaza

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has commended Japan’s stand for humanitarian assistance to be allowed into Gaza, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said Malaysia also appreciated Japan’s position on the illegal settlement by Israel into Palestine and the need for peace in the region.

“Although there are differences in emphasis between Malaysia and Japan on the issue, I must commend Prime Minister Fumio Kishida for his commitment,” he said on Sunday (Nov 5).

Anwar said this in a joint statement following a meeting with Kishida at Seri Perdana.

Kishida arrived in Malaysia on Saturday (Nov 4), his first visit to Malaysia since assuming office in 2021.

The Prime Minister said the situation in Gaza must be given attention, and according to reports, Israel had dropped more explosives on the besieged Gaza Strip compared to those dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War 2.
