Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will land on Disney+ on Dec 1.
The fifth and final chapter of the action franchise — which started with 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark — sees Harrison Ford’s titular swashbuckling archaeologist racing against time to find the fabled Archimedes Dial, a device that’s said to contain powers to locate fissures in time.
The film, directed by James Mangold (Ford vs Ferrari) — the others were helmed by Steven Spielberg — also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, and John Rhys-Davies.
On the same day as Dial of Destiny‘s launch, Disney+ will also drop Timeless Heroes, a feature-length documentary exploring Ford’s enduring appeal and his upbringing, including his foray into showbiz, his casting in the iconic Indiana Jones franchise, and the impact and inspiration generated by the films.
Timeless Heroes hails from Laurent Bouzereau, the filmmaker best known for his documentaries on Spielberg’s movies (if you’re a DVD/Blu-Ray collector, that name should be a familiar one).
Dial of Destiny played to mixed reviews and grossed US$383.9 million (S$523.8 mil) worldwide on a reported US$295 million budget during its theatrical run that started in late June.
The earlier Indiana Jones films as well as the TV prequel series, The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, made their Disney+ debut in May. (Sadly, the series isn’t available in Singapore.)
