Cops record statement of Kepala Batas MP over speech

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has recorded the statement of Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Muhammad.

The MP was seen entering the Bukit Aman compound at 11am on Tuesday (Nov 14).

She exited at around 12.30pm.

“Around 10 questions were asked. She has been summoned over a speech that was made during the Kemaman election campaign trail and we have cooperated in answering their questions.

“We have passed references that we have collected to the police and we will leave it to them to determine if it is relevant or not,” her lawyer Ahmad Amzar Ahmad Azlan said.

He added that his client had received four letters of demand from DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng, his wife Betty Chew, Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang and Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

“At this time we have not gone through their letters in detail. Follow up actions will be taken after we have done so.

“We will weigh our options out. As of now the statement that she made is as it is,” he said.

He added that any decision to retract, amend or retain the statements issued would be made after the letters were studied in detail.

According to Ahmad Amzar, Siti was told her case was 3R (race, religion and royalty) related.

In a now-viral video, Siti claimed that DAP chairman Guan Eng had family ties with Chin Peng, the former Malayan Communist Party leader.

She also linked Guan Eng and his wife, Betty Chew Gek Cheng, to other DAP leaders, namely Anthony Loke, Kok, Nga Kor Ming and Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham.

The Kepala Batas MP also claimed that DAP stalwart Kit Siang was a cousin of former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

Siti allegedly made the claim during an election campaign for the Kemaman by-election.
