Selangor cops to extend remand for policemen in rape, robbery case

AMPANG: Police will apply to extend the remand order for the two policemen who were arrested for their suspected involvement in a robbery and rape case involving a private college student and her male friend.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the initial remand order ended on Tuesday (Jan 16) but investigations into the case have yet to be completed.

“As investigations are ongoing, we will apply to have a remand extension on both suspects.

“Rest assured we are not taking this situation lightly. We will bring whoever intentionally breaks the law to face justice,” he said when contacted on Tuesday.

On Friday, both policemen have been suspended from duty until the investigation into the case is completed.

Police would also take the statements of all the individuals involved, including the superiors of the two policemen.

In the 10.09pm incident, the two policemen, with the ranks of Constable and Lance Corporal respectively are believed to have taken the victim and her friend to separate locations before one of the suspects raped the victim.

The two policemen were remanded for seven days under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape and Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for robbery.
