Ukraine-Born Miss Japan Gives Up Crown After 15 Day-Reign After Admitting To Affair With Married Plastic Surgeon

That was fast.

When Ukraine-born model Karolina Shiino became the first person of European descent to win the Miss Japan Grand Prix late last month (Jan 22), it had the Japanese chattering about race, ethnicity, and looks.

However, 15 days after her win, the professional model has chosen to give up her title.

This is after a Japanese news report revealed that she is dating popular plastic surgeon Takuma Maeda, 45, who just happens to be married with a child.

The article claimed that the two were initially just friends who went out for meals but became closer as time went by, with Takuma inviting Karolina to his home for a date.

Initially refuting the allegations when the news first broke, Karolina changed her tune yesterday (Feb 5) and admitted to the rumours about her having an affair with a married man.

In an Instagram post, Karolina admitted that she was inconsistent with the facts and went on to apologise to fans who supported her.

“I once again apologise to everyone for my betrayal,” wrote Karolina.

She also solemnly expressed her sincere apologies to Takuma’s wife, family, and other related parties.

Karolina Shiino’s 15-day reign has had many Japanese talking.
Takuma Maeda is a 45-year-old plastic surgeon and is well known in Japan for his buff bod.

Takuma is known as ‘The Muscle Doctor’ to his 17.1K followers on Instagram. He is no stranger to the pageant circuit and has taken part in various bodybuilding competitions.

He has also served as a judge for the Miss Universe Japan last year.

Miss Universe Japan is not affiliated with the Miss Japan Grand Prix pageant.

When the news first broke, both Karolina’s agency and pageant organisers came out to refute the news report, saying the pair were not involved in an extramarital affair.

The Miss Japan Grand Prix pageant also publicly showed their support for Karolina and issued a statement saying Maeda had cheated on her and that she was a victim.

Takuma has since come out on Facebook to address the allegations and said both he and Karolina did date and see each other for a period of time.

According to him, he had concealed his status as married man from her when they were together, and Karolina refused to continue being in a relationship with him.

Takuma also revealed in the post that he is now divorced.

In a twist of events, Karolina’s agency revealed in a statement that though she didn’t know Takuma was married, she still chose to continue to be in the relationship.

The agency even emphasised that Karolina hid the truth as she was “too scared”.
