Fans Fear Disbandment After K-Pop Idol Announces Departure From Beloved Group
Hopefully, fans get their answers soon.
On June 20, Dajeong announced that she was no longer a member of the girl group PIXY.
In a letter shared on Instagram, the idol said she had completed her time as a group member and expressed regret over not being able to say anything sooner.
Hello, this is ”Pixy Dajeong.“
To all the Winxy out there who have supported us and given us your love, who have wondered about and kept us in your thoughts, I would like to start off this letter by expressing my deepest gratitude.
Thank you all, so very, very much, from the bottom of my heart.
Until the writing of this letter, I was unable to communicate my status to you all, and I know it must have been frustrating waiting for an update. And so with this letter, I would like to deliver some heavy news.
I have finished my activities as Pixy‘s Dajeong.
This may be news that many of you already suspected, and delivering it to you in this way is heartbreaking, heavy, and I am so sorry I was unable to say anything sooner.
All the precious moments I spent with you, Winxy, during my time as Pixy’s Dajeong are unforgettable and irreplaceable. Because I was able to meet and spend time with you, give and receive your love, I can look back on our time together and say I was truly happy. I learned and grew up so much with you all, and so I thank you again.
As my time as Pixy‘s Dajeong comes to a close, remembering all of you who have waited so patiently and so lovingly, I will do my best to deliver good news going forward as quickly as possible.
I love you Winxy very much, now and forever, and thank you.

PIXY originally debuted as a six member group in 2021, prior to the departures of members Ella and Satbyeol. Despite being from a smaller company, PIXY steadily gained popularity, selling 23,000 copies of their 2023 album, Chosen Karma and embarking on successful tours of the United States and Europe.
Prior to Dajeong’s announcement, however, there were other issues that caused concern for fans of the group.
First, the group has not had any releases since October 2023, which was a digital only album.
The group’s inactivity led many fans to question what was going on, resulting in a hashtag and campaign directed at their company demanding answers. Fans alleged that packages sent to AllArt Entertainment, PIXY’s agency, were returned due to a reported new building being vacant.
It was also alleged that a majority of the work for PIXY’s last comeback fell upon the members, with Rinji preparing a majority of the release.
There have also been hints that the group may be heading towards disbandment.
Rinji shared that she was currently recovering from surgery to correct a broken toe and pursuing acting, with the final part of her message thanking fans for the time spent together.
Winxys!
Thank you so much. I’m an ISTP, so you know I only speak the truth!! Haha. Winxys are truly the driving force in my life and make me a better person. Thank you so much for putting your precious time into PIXY. The time we spent together was so beautiful. Let’s meet again. Love you.

A songwriter and vocal coach associated with PIXY also seemed to hint at something going on with the group, sharing a message with fans on June 20th.
I’m sorry for not answering those who asked about PIXY’s recent situation. I was cautious because I didn’t know how my words would affect PIXY friends’ circumstances. I thank everyone who supported me, and I also ask for your continued love and support for my friends in the future. Thank you.
