He looked and sounded just like the Mandopop star. And no, he wasn’t lip-syncing.

It’s not uncommon to see celebrities perform at company dinners, even international A-listers.
Remember Singapore wellness product company Riway International flying Taiwanese pop star Cyndi Wang in for their D&D?
So we were not surprised when a Malaysian Xiaohongshu user recently shared a video of Singaporean star JJ Lin performing hit song ‘Dimples’ at his company’s anniversary party.
“MY company’s anniversary gala finale: JJ Lin. So lucky! Not only can we attend the company’s anniversary gala, we managed to meet him in person,” he captioned.
Yes, very lucky, we thought… that was until we read the comments and realised that the man singing on stage was a JJ Lin impersonator.
And judging by the cheers from the audience and comments, many were fooled too.
One even remarked that he had a “90 percent resemblance” to JJ.
Well, pirated JJ did look and sound very much like the real deal.
And no, he wasn’t lip-syncing.
The doppelganger is a street performer from Nanning, China, who goes by ‘南宁分杰’ (Nanning Fen Jie) on Douyin.
He went viral last year for his singing talent and uncanny resemblance to JJ. You can check out his performances on his Douyin page.
Fen Jie has amassed more than 130K followers on the social media platform and has even held performances in Singapore and Malaysia.
