Cat Hunting Fish Unexpectedly Draws Big Crowds
Who doesn’t love an unexpected National Geographic wildlife moment in everyday life, especially in cities?
But while Sunda owls and Oriental Pied hornbills draw curious crowds in Singapore, a far more unexpected star was the centre of attention in China, according to a recent video posted to Xiao Hong Shu by Xin Hua News.
The star? A stray cat catching fish.
Yes, a feline doing what it does best drew hordes of tourists to watch it hunt.
The catto didn’t seem bothered by the huge crowd that had quietly gathered and was seen laser-focused on its mission to catch a meal.
The tourists were so silent that you could hear a pin drop, until the moment the cat finally snagged a fish, at which the crowd broke out in thunderous applause.
Was this the Nat Geo moment the crowd was waiting for?
Netizens were seen reacting with humour, mostly in disbelief.
“Was the entrance fee for the zoo too expensive that you rather watch a stray cat fishing?” asked one jokingly.
“With such a hyped-up atmosphere, the cat failing to catch the fish would have disappointed the crowd,” another quipped.
A curious netizen even wondered out loud if the cat was thinking, “What’s the big deal?”
A cat owner was seen responding to the video with a photo of their unimpressed pet, writing, “After watching the video, I stared at this guy and told him how much of a disappointment he is.”
