Pearly-Thinaah likely to decide career path by end of next week
PETALING JAYA: Women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah are likely to make a decision on their contract renewal with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) by the end of next week.
Pearly and Thinaah have not signed new contracts with BAM and there has been speculation that the pair might decide to leave the national body and turn independent.
With the national No. 1 combo due to compete in four back-to-back tournaments – the Thailand Open (May 13-18), Malaysian Masters (May 20-25), Singapore Open (May 27-June 1) and Indonesian Open (June 3-8) – the clock is ticking for them to decide on their future.
BAM secretary-general Datuk Kenny Goh said Pearly-Thinaah’s contract situation could be resolved by the end of next week.
“Pearly-Thinaah have not signed new contracts, but the matter will likely be resolved in these two weeks.
“They have many tournaments coming up, so we will give them time to decide,” he added.
