Korean Streamer Gets Attacked In France, Authorities Claim Racist And Sexist Motive
The mayor and the prosecutor had to get involved.

A popular Korean streamer was assaulted on the streets of France, sparking a huge outcry and leading French authorities to get involved.

The incident occurred on May 7 (local time), when Yoo Yoon Jin, a Korean content creator who goes by Jinnytty online, was live streaming while walking through Toulouse’s downtown. A man on an electric scooter came up to her from behind and shouted, “What do you want, you dirty wh*re? Get out of here!” He then knocked off the camera in her hand and fled the scene.
The incident was streamed live on Twitch, where Yoo has a following of over a million. The video started spreading across social media rapidly, sparking outrage among viewers, especially from France and Korea. While many Koreans expressed concern over safety and racism in Europe, French users posted messages apologizing and showing their support for the creator on X (former Twitter).
Shortly after the incident was caught on camera, Emilon Esnault, the mayor of Toulouse, issued a statement expressing “full support” for the streamer. The issue was also extensively covered by major South Korean broadcasters like KBS and MBC, stoking further criticism against Europe’s problem with racism.
According to the latest report by French news outlet Le Figaro, Toulouse prosecutor David Charmatz has referred the case to the regional police department for investigation as a possible assault with racism and sexism as motives. Yoo, however, is yet to make a public statement about the incident.
