Sordid Details Of Former NCT Taeil’s Rape Case Leaves Netizens In Disgust

On February 28, 2025, the Women and Children’s Crime Investigation Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office indicted former NCT‘s Taeil and two others for aggravated rape under the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. The charges stem from a June 2024 incident involving the sexual assault of an intoxicated foreign woman. Following the indictment, it was reported on June 18, 2025, during his first trial, that Taeil and his two accomplices confessed to the crime. Prosecutors have requested a seven-year prison term for each of them.

When asked about his current status, Taeil stated, “I used to be a singer but was expelled from my company. I’m now working part-time.” His lawyer adde that he is currently making a living by helping out at a friend’s restaurant.

The prosecution stated that Taeil and the other defendants, who were all acquaintances, encountered the victim—a stranger to them—at a bar in Itaewon around 2:33 a.m. on June 13. After drinking together, the group coerced the victim into a taxi and transported them to one of the defendants’ residences in Seoul’s Bangbae area. There, between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m., the defendants gang-raped the victim, who was heavily intoxicated and unconscious at the time.

Netizens were absolutely in shock at the sordid details of the case. It was revealed that the assault was premeditated, pointing to exchanged messages in which the suspects noted the victim was a foreigner and discussed plans to manipulate the taxi’s GPS data to misrepresent the actual location of the assault.
