No motions filed against PM yet, says Dewan Rakyat Speaker

CYBERJAYA: The Opposition has not filed any motion to refer Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to Parliament’s Rights and Privileges Committee, says Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.

“So far, I have yet to receive anything.

“(Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri) Muhyiddin Yassin mentioned in Parliament that he is waiting for the Prime Minister to take action, and I too am waiting for further developments,” he said on the sidelines of the 58th Asean Day celebration at the Cyber Event Hall here on Friday (Aug 8).

This follows a statement during Tuesday’s (Aug 5) Dewan Rakyat sitting, in which Anwar said he had received information that certain Opposition MPs were defending the rights of foreigners to benefit from the subsidy rationalisation programme, a remark later directed at Muhyiddin, the Pagoh MP.

“As per usual practice, if anything is submitted to me, God willing, I will review it and take the necessary action as outlined in the Standing Orders.

“But as of now, nothing has been received,” Johari said.

He also confirmed that he has yet to receive any motion of no confidence from the Opposition.
