Influencer Speaks Up For Sylvia Chan About His Time In Night Owl Cinematics

Johor-born Singaporean content creator and co-founder of Night Owl Cinematics (NOC) Sylvia Chan has yet to address any of the allegations made against her since last Friday. This comes after Instagram account @sgcickenrice released a series of alleged “receipts” of Sylvia planning her staff’s exit and her ongoing abusive behaviour over the years.

Although many have come forth to defend co-founder Ryan Tan (who is also Sylvia’s ex-husband), no one has said anything remotely nice about Sylvia – except for Kris Kai, a former contestant on NOC’s Knockout competition.

Aside from vouching for Ryan’s character like everyone else, Kris also decided to open up about his personal experience with Sylvia. Although the NOC lady boss has been allegedly called a tyrant with very little patience to spare, he has also been on the receiving end of her good side.

When we were all going through a tough time on Knockout, Sylvia got us bubble tea and sat us down to speak to us 1 on 1to work out our strengths and weaknesses,” he recalled, by including an old text exchange. “A lot of us cried badly that day, and I think this was her way of pulling us all back.”

Of course, he isn’t negating the abuse and unfair treatment towards so many NOC staff, especially Samantha Tan. Many of the NOC talents and crew have also urged netizens not to target Night Owl Cinematics as a company as the livelihood of everyone working there might be affected. To echo what Ryan said over the weekend, 2 wrongs don’t make a right.

Following the allegations, Colgate Singapore withdrew from their collaboration with Sylvia, while Milo clarified that they do not have any ongoing work with her at the moment.
