Kacey Musgraves Reacts to New Album ‘Star-Crossed’ Being Removed from Country Category by Grammys

Kacey Musgraves is addressing the recent decision by the Grammys to have her new album excluded from the country music category.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the 33-year-old singer’s album Star-Crossed has been deemed ineligible for the country album category, and will instead compete in the pop category at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

On Wednesday (October 13), Kacey took to social media to react to the decision.

 

“You can take the girl out of the country (genre) … but you can’t take the country out of the girl,” Kacey wrote on her Instagram Story, referencing lyrics from her 2018 song “Dime Store Girl.”

Along with the message, Kacey also shared a throwback photo of herself as a child wearing a red cowboy hat.

Kacey went on to share a ton of photos and videos of herself performing with country music legends over the years, including Dolly PartonReba McEntireWillie NelsonShania TwainGeorge Strait, and Loretta Lynn. She also tagged each entertainer in her posts.

For her last post, Kacey shared a photo of herself onstage flipping the double bird to the audience.

Over the years, Kacey has won six Grammys, with five of them being in country music categories.
