Girls On Top: Meet The Members Of SM Entertainment’s Super Girl Group

Brace yourselves guys, another super group featuring SM Entertainment’s top female idols in the company are currently gearing up for their official debut – and they are called Girls On Top (or GOT in short)!

Last night, SM dropped the news that they will be debuting a girl group in a similar style to the “Avengers-styled” boy group SuperM. As revealed in the statement, Girls On Top will not only perform a special stage on 1st January (most likely) at SMTOWN’s upcoming free online concert, they will also be releasing a single together, which will debut on 3rd January at 6pm KST (5pm Malaysia time).

Without further ado, let’s meet the seven members of Girls On Top:

1. BoA (보아)

• Solo artiste
• Position: Leader
• Some of her nicknames include: Beat of Angel, Best of All, Kkamshi, as well as the Queen of Korean Pop.
• She was scouted by SM at the age of 11, when she accompanied her older brother to an audition.

2. Taeyeon (태연)

• Original group: Girls’ Generation
• Position: Main vocalist
• She was cast after participating in SM’s 8th Annual Teen Best Contest in 2004.  She was crowned the Best Singer and won the First Place Grand Award.
• She has a total of seven piercings (five in her right ear and two in left) and six tattoos.

3. Hyoyeon (효연)

• Original group: Girls’ Generation
• Position: Main dancer, Main rapper, Sub vocalist
• She has known former miss A member Min before either of them debuted. Both of them were in a dance duo called Little Winners.
• In 2005, during her trainee days, Hyoyeon went on stage as BoA’s “silhoutte” back-up for the Mnet KM Music Festival (now better known as MAMAs).

4. Seulgi (슬기)

• Original group: Red Velvet
• Position: Main dancer, lead vocalist
• She almost debuted with a different stage name – Rowoon.
• Seulgi was supposed to debut as a member of f(x). She trained together with members Krystal Jung and the late Sulli.

5. Wendy (웬디)

• Original group: Red Velvet
• Position: Vocalist
• She made her solo debut in April this year with the mini album “Like Water”.
• She’s able to speak in four different languages – Korean, English, Spanish and French.

6. Karina (카리나)

• Original group: aespa
• Position: Main dancer, Lead rapper, Sub vocalist,
• She appeared in the music video of Taemin’s 2019 song “Want”.
• She trained for four years.

7. Winter (윈터)

• Original group: aespa
• Position: Maknae
• Many fans think she resembles her senior Taeyeon from SNSD.
• She’s a certified EXO-L (EXO fandom name); and her bias is Baekhyun.
