Wendi McLendon-Covey Breaks Her Silence on Jeff Garlin’s Exit from ‘The Goldbergs’
Wendi McLendon-Covey is finally addressing Jeff Garlin‘s firing from The Goldbergs.
Back in December, Jeff – who played Murray on the ABC sitcom – was fired from the show after multiple complaints about his behavior on set resulted in an HR investigation.
On Tuesday (March 15), Wendi – who plays Beverly on The Goldbergs – finally broke her silence on Jeff‘s exit.
Journalist Joel Murray tweeted a clip from the show, writing, “They should either cancel The Goldbergs or kill off Jeff Garlin’s character because the workarounds they’ve been using this season ain’t working.”
After catching wind of the tweet, Wendi decided to respond.
“This season threw us for a loop because a.) it’s hard to incorporate someone who doesn’t want to be there and wants to leave mid-scene,” Wendi tweeted. “And b.) we werent about to re-write the 2nd half of the season. We’re doing our best.”
The Goldbergs – which first premiere in 2013 – is currently in its ninth season, have had to work around with Jeff‘s exit, while continuing to have his character on the show. The show has superimposed his face into some scenes while also using a body double.
Ahead of his firing, Jeff reportedly slammed The Goldbergs during one of his comedy shows.
Thanks for the great suggestion Noel! This season threw us for a loop because a.) it's hard to incorporate someone who doesn't want to be there and wants to leave mid-scene, and b.) we werent about to re-write the 2nd half of the season. We're doing our best.
