Britney Spears Talks Paparazzi Pics of Her Driving With Her Son In Her Lap, Almost Dropping Him

Britney Spears opened up about several troubling paparazzi photos of her with her first son Sean Preston in her memoir The Woman in Me.

After giving birth to her son in 2005, the 41-year-old Princess of Pop was photographed by the paparazzi with him sitting on her lap while driving.

While pregnant with her second son Jayden James, additional photos emerged of her almost falling while holding Sean Preston in her arms.

Both incidents were used by the press to suggest that she was a bad mom. However, Britney painted a different picture to explain why she was in those situations, describing “the aggression of the paparazzi” as the “main danger” she faced at that time.

“Everything I did with the babies was chronicled,” Britney wrote, adding that the photos were used to display her in the worst light.

“When I drove off to escape the paparazzi with Sean Preston on my lap, that was taken as proof that I was unfit,” she recalled, adding, “I got cornered by the paparazzi with him at the Malibu Country Mart, too – they kept on taking my picture as, trapped, I held him and cried.”

On the topic of when she was photographed stumbling while holding her son, Britney explained that she was trying to navigate her way into a car while faced with a swarm of photographers. The photos also do not tell the full story.

“If you watch the video and don’t just look at the still photos, you can see that while carrying a cup of water in one hand and my baby in the other arm, my heel turned and I almost went down – but I didn’t fall. And in catching myself, I didn’t drop either the water or the baby – who, by the way, was completely unfazed,” she wrote.

Britney continued, describing her response: telling a photographer, “This is why I need a gun.” She acknowledged that it “probably didn’t go over all that well. But I was at my wits’ end.”
