Japanese Woman Moonlights As “Part-Time Girlfriend”, Client Turns Out To Be Her Firm’s Boss

One Japanese fresh grad took on a side hustle as a “part-time girlfriend”, and the experience left her so traumatised that she vowed never do it again.

The woman, whose name was not revealed, graduated from a Tokyo university at age 23 and subsequently landed a job in a presitgious real estate firm.

Growing up in a single-parent household, she had to finance her own education.

While she managed to pay her tuition with scholarships, she wanted to have a more comfortable life, so she worked part-time at nightclubs and managed to make good money from her gig.

However, when she started working full-time at the real estate firm, she found her starting pay too low.

She considered moving to an apartment with cheaper rent, but was reluctant to compromise her lifestyle, so she decided to find a side hustle online.

She stumbled upon the concept of a part-time girlfriend, a popular phenomenon in Japan where young women go on dates with older men.

They offer services ranging from dining out to watching movies, kinda like an escort, but minus the romantic or sexual intimacy.

Enticed by the lucrative pay and the prospect of free meals, she decided to give it a go.

One of her dates was a 50-year-old man, whom she described as skinny and charming, like “the kind of guys you would see in men’s fashion magazines”.

During their date, she found out that he was newly appointed as an external director in a well-known company.

Although he did not disclose the company’s name, she suspected it was the firm she’s working at.

After their date, the woman quickly checked the company’s website and there it was, the news of the “appointment of the new director”, and staring at her was a photo of her date.

“From that day on, I feared running into him at work. It would be really awkward,” she said.

Following the incident, she immediately stopped her side hustle, and instead, shifted to a more affordable apartment to lessen strain on her finances.

She also cut her hair short, and kept a low-key profile at work so she wouldn’t draw attention to herself.
