Go Youn Jung Reveals How Her Government-Worker Younger Brother Protects Her

Actress Go Youn Jung recently opened up about her family during a press interview for her hit tvN drama Resident Playbook. She discussed her family’s reaction to the drama and her status as a celebrity.

The drama’s airing was delayed severely due to medical staff strikes. Her mother devotedly watched re-runs of Go Youn Jung’s other works until Resident Playbook aired.

“My mom loves seeing me on TV. But last year, I didn’t appear on television or OTT platforms, so she’s been rewatching my past work.”

As for her younger brother, Go Youn Jung revealed that he strictly keeps her identity under wraps, even from his colleagues and friends. Her younger brother is two years younger than her, a recently got hired as a civil servant, one of South Korea’s most desirable jobs.

“He recently got a job as a civil servant in Seou. Everyone in my family is academically gifted — except me. But I don’t think he tells anyone at work that I’m his sister. Aside from a few close friends, it seems like he keeps it to himself.”

Go Youn Jung’s brother is not the only celebrity sibling to keep their family ties a secret. Many do so in order to protect their status as a public figure, and to avoid unwanted attention.
