Roger Kwok Wanted to Divorce Cindy Au

Married for 13 years with two kids, Roger Kwok (郭晉安) and Cindy Au (歐倩怡) are known to be a loving couple. Still, each family has their own struggles behind closed doors that outsiders are often oblivious to. Despite Roger and Cindy’s happy image, the couple revealed they experienced a marital crisis once. Since they were fighting so often, they eventually just stopped speaking to each other for half a year.

Roger, who is currently filming Say Lie <失憶24小時> with Shaun Tam (譚俊彥), was praised by the latter for successfully balancing both work and his family. Shaun pointed out, “Roger’s success today is gained from his hard work over the years.”

Obstacles in Their Marriage

Similar to his career, Roger’s marriage also faced many roadblocks, such as Cindy’s two miscarriags and the pursual of their personal goals. Perhaps balancing both career and family isn’t as easy as it seems.

The couple’s first child was born in 2006 after they got married but Cindy’s two miscarriages afterwards left them so traumatized that Cindy constantly feared something would happen to her fourth pregnancy. Luckily, she relaxed with the support of Roger and they successfully welcomed their daughter.

However, they did not live together happily ever after – another issue arose on their 10th year of marriage. Roger was depressed from constantly filming and Cindy, who slowly retired from acting to focus on self-improvement, became busy with studying. The two gradually grew apart and they fought constantly over their kids’ studies. In facing another marital crisis, Roger admitted that he once thought of divorce out of impulse, but he found other ways to fix his marriage.

Roger shared three ways he saved his marriage. First, they spent time together at least once a week. Secondly, they both believed in the Lord, and thirdly, they did not pressure their kids to become talented students. This not only lessens the stress between the couple, but also their children.
