All Hands On Deck for Mat Yeung and Lisa Ch’ng

Mat Yeung’s (楊明) Korean stew restaurant has been through quite a storm in the past two years, and with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that’s been terrorizing through the world, Mat knows that he still has a long way to go.

Many businesses, specifically restaurants, are struggling in the midst of the pandemic, and Mat’s restaurant is no exception. So it is of no surprise to see the actor at the restaurant, being hands-on with all the work.

Although busy with the promotions of his new TVB drama Airport Strikers <機場特警>, Mat would still go back to his restaurant to help out whenever he has the free time. His girlfriend Lisa Ch’ng (莊思明), who also owns stakes in the restaurant, was also seen helping out.

A few days ago, the couple were seen heading to their Wan Chai restaurant at around 4 p.m. Lisa had also purchased a box of cakes for the staff to enjoy. After their break, Mat and Lisa went straight to work to sanitize the restaurant. Mat helped out with cleaning the tables, and Lisa was seen accepting orders on the phone.

While there were less people dining in, the restaurant has seen an increase in people getting take-out. Lisa told reporters, “We’re understaffed, with not enough cars to take all the orders. Whenever I could find the time I’d come and help out. The customers do get pleasantly surprised when they see us.”

Asking if she felt embarrassed about doing the restaurant’s cleaning, she said, “Of course not. It’s important to be clean, and it’s easier to understand what your workers are going through when you do everything personally. Because we’re doing sanitization more thoroughly, it is tiring, so I know that this is a ver stressful job.”
