Grace Chan is the “Bad Cop” At Home

Grace Chan (陳凱琳) has a lot on her plate. Aside from taking care of her one year old son, Rafael, at home, the 28-year-old is in the midst of building her own business empire, and recently launched her first skincare brand Snow Queen, debuting the brand’s first product, cotton facial pads.

At only 28 years old, Grace feels that she still has a lot to learn. Her stress increased tenfold after the birth of her son. Fortunately, her husband Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) was there for her in every step of the way, supporting her.

Rafael is only one year old, but their little nugget has become their everything. “I feel like I have a new target in life now,” said Grace, as she reflected on everything that has happened the past year. “My husband and I both know that everything we do now is for our son’s future. We hope to give him a happy childhood. We hope that he’ll be able to feel the love of his parents, and that he’ll be able to love people the same way.”

When it comes to teaching the little one, Grace and Kevin already have agreed on a parenting style: good cop, bad cop. “I’m the more strict one at home,” she said. “My husband just loves our son too much, so I know he’s going to be the one to spoil him. However, he did tell me to give him warnings if he ends up spoiling the baby too much. He doesn’t want it to become a hard habit to break. We do hope to find a balance.”

Recently, Grace has been volunteering at a charity for families with autistic children. Grace hopes to introduce Rafael to more volunteer organizations when he is older, so Rafael can learn about the needs of other families.
