Zhao Yiqin Douses Himself in Water as Part of Unexpected Apology Over the Ratings for His Drama Fake Princess

There’s drama, and then there’s DRAMA.
In a move you can only expect to see on TV, Zhao Yiqin who starred with Eleanor Lee in the historical rom-com Fake Princess almost gave himself a bath when he doused himself with three glasses of water all within the minute and forty eight second video apology he posted on social media last night. In the video which he addressed to Huanyu boss Yu Zheng, the actor said “my dearest boss, I wanted to apologise to you because the numbers from the new drama (Fake Princess) fell below your expectations and only broke a billion views, I’m sorry.” Nobody could’ve predicted what happened next when he proceeded to chuck a entire glass of water onto himself. Whoa.
Zhao Yiqin then gave himself a second dousing of water after saying “I failed you and you couldn’t rely on me is my reason”. . . And then, after vociferously saying “My Girl, (the drama he’s currently starring in with with actress Li Jiaqi) I think will be the one to take off. If it still doesn’t do the trick and won’t be a hit, I’ll pour myself another glass!” lobbing himself with the third glass!
Betcha nobody expected an apology to happen in this manner (nor an apology actually), least of all Yu Zheng who reposted the video with a reply to his artist saying “what’s going on? Why aren’t you returning messages on WeChat? Who taught you to do this? Let’s go home (probably referring to Huanyu HQ) and play by ourselves, okay? Today is enough of a downer already, please don’t give people another reason to accuse me of trying to draw attention to myself again. Besides, it’s not a drama we produced, why are you so worked up over this? Exasperating!
Whoa, the poor guy really put too much pressure on himself to deliver. I hope he takes a moment to reflect and take care of his mental health… and maybe to also have that chat with Yu Zheng. It is what it is and there’s really no use trying to put the weight of the entire production on his own shoulders. Hope he’ll come out of this funk soon and focus his efforts instead on making his own acting even better for his next project.
