Kathy Yuen and Shing Mak Share the Moment They Fell in Lovejessie tan
Falling in love, getting married, and having a baby all happened at lightning speed for Kathy Yuen (湯怡) and Shing Mak (麥秋成). After their marriage in February, the couple is expecting their first child this summer. While many are still reeling in shock by the rapid developments in their relationship–as their romance was unannounced before their engagement and baby news–Kathy and Shing share how they met and fell in love.
First Impression Wasn’t Good
Set up on a date by a mutual friend, Kathy did not have a good impression of Shing at first sight. Kathy said to her friend, “This guy does not look like he’s dependable or reliable. I’ll save him for you!” The duo did not click at their initial meeting, and communication eventually fell away.
However, one day when Kathy saw Shing post a photo of fried chicken, she had a sudden urge to want to eat it too. She messaged him. Taking this opportunity, Shing invited Kathy out for chicken wings, which marked the start of a beautiful relationship.
“When two people are together, the most important thing is comfort. When I am with him, there are not many negatives I can pick on. Even if I did something wrong, he would not throw a tantrum or be unhappy with me. Instead, he would just laugh,” the Al Cappuccino <反黑路人甲> actress said.
Shing still remembers the moment he knew Kathy was the one for him, “One day, while we were at the beach, she gave me some of her homemade cookies. When she handed the cookie to me, the sun was setting at an angle that illuminated her. She looked just like an angel. I felt my heart begin to race!”
Kathy Has Pregnancy Brain
Currently four and half months pregnant, Kathy expressed excitement to become a mother. Her pregnancy has been relatively easy without nausea or any morning sickness. However, she admitted to having pregnancy brain.
“I really do believe in this! After becoming pregnant, I am more forgetful. The people around me teased that I process things slower. Perhaps it is because I am giving the baby all my nutrients, so I am not less bright! My appetite has changed a lot though. I preferred sweet foods in the past, but I did not have any sweets in my first trimester.”
On his thoughts about parenthood, and whether he wants Kathy to be a stay-at-home mom, Shing expressed, “Career is a must. We both are still working. I am working on a retail store, and she would help here and there.” Kathy added, “Currently, I do not have a lot physical limitations. I told him that I cannot stop working. Shing has been great though, and would drive me everywhere.”
