The Taiwanese singer was actually down with a serious case of gastroenteritis, but finished her set before seeking medical attention.
Taiwanese singer Angela Chang, 42, was recently in Kunshan, China, for a performance alongside other stars.
Despite feeling unwell that day, Angela stayed on to complete her set, even holding an umbrella while performing to shelter herself from the rain.
Following the concert, Angela’s agency posted a picture of her lying on a hospital bed while being hooked up to an IV drip. They revealed she was there to receive emergency medical treatment after suffering a bad bout of gastroenteritis.
They wrote: “We’re sorry to make everyone worry. Angela received treatment immediately after she finished the show, and everything is well. It’s also been hard on those who got drenched during the concert.”

However, a false account of events regarding Angela’s illness began rapidly circulating on Weibo. A netizen, who claimed to be an audience member who stood in the front row during the concert, accused Angela of defecating in her pants on stage.
“[I] was hit by a stench the moment she came on stage. I was too close to the stage, it was a waste of money to get front-row tickets,” they complained.
It took no time at all for the false report to spread, with “Angela’s defecating incident” becoming one of the most discussed topics on Chinese search engines.
The singer would later release a statement through her lawyer, asserting that the entire account was untrue, and that the so-called audience member was simply spreading rumours with ill-intent. Netizens were encouraged to ignore the false reports, and advised to stop creating and circulating rumours.
Those who insist in spreading reputation-damaging rumours about Angela will also be subject to legal consequences.
“Sorry to spark false discussions during the holiday period, [we] feel sad and helpless in this. However, we are also firm in making our statement, and wish that similar incidents won’t occur in the future,” read the statement.
