Yang Zi’s “Lost You Forever” Releases Promotional Poster

Starring Andy Yang Zi (楊紫), Deng Wei (鄧為), Zhang Wanyi (張晚意), and Tan Jianci (檀健次), upcoming wuxia fantasy romance Lost You Forever <長相思> recently released its promotional poster. While Yang Zi’s fans were delighted with her beautiful visuals, others were disappointed as none of the male leads were featured in the still.

Lost You Forever is adapted from the third book The Book of Mountain and Sea <山经海纪>  in the trilogy written by beloved author Tong Hua (桐华) of Scarlett Heart <步步惊心> fame. The story opens with Xuan Yuan kingdom’s daughter, Gao Xin Jiu Yao (Yang Zi), left behind by her parents with Queen Yu Shan to fight in a war. When her parents lost their lives in the battle and never returned as promised, Gao Xin Jiu Yao is disheartened and flees Yu Shan.

Disguised as a doctor, Gao Xin Jiu Yao  practices medicine until she fatefully rescues Tu Shanjing (Deng Wei) from his brother one day. While treating him, she is also ordered to help the nine-headed demon Xiang Liu with his injuries. As the two men become attached to her, her older cousin Qiang Xuan (Zhang Wanyi) realizes her true identity and attempts to bring her back home.

When casting was confirmed, there was speculation that the production team cast Yang Zi to help the three male leads gain more exposure. Although she was the only one seen in the promotional poster, it appeared reasonable since Lost You Forever is a heroine-focused story and Yang Zi’s involvement with the project is believed to be one of the main selling points.

However, fans of Deng Wei, Wanyi, and Jianci felt it was unfair that their actors were left out of the poster even though they are also playing main roles. They criticized, “So the crew is basically suggesting that less popular stars don’t deserve to be on the poster?”; “They are all actors with signed contracts, yet the difference in treatments is just ridiculous” and “Okay , let Yang Zi have it all. She can be the only one blamed if ratings are poor.”
