TVB Eager to Share Only Good Ratings

Last week, TVB announced comprehensive Hong Kong viewership ratings for all television programs will no longer be publicly provided, citing the wide availability of multiple platforms in which programs can be accessed. No longer considering Nielsen ratings to be solely indicative of viewership patterns, TVB will parse data analytics and share as appropriate.

Despite the announcement, the station is apparently more eager to share good news when its programs perform strongly. The premiere of variety show Super Trio Returns <開心無敵獎門人>  was revealed to have peaked at 24.5 points, beating last week’s Hong Kong Gold Songs Award Presentation Ceremony <香港金曲頒獎典禮 2021/2022> by 4.7 points despite being in the same timeslot.

Airing right after Super Trio Returns, Woo-Fung’s 90th Birthday Celebration <人生90好楓Show> managed to peak at 19.3 points.

Meanwhile, Big White Duel 2 <白色強人 II>  peaked at 19.5 points, 3.3 points higher than  Childhood in a Capsule <童時愛上你> which received moderate ratings.

Netizens noticed TVB  only revealed the peak ratings, and did not announce overall average ratings with the exception of Communion <回歸>, which was revealed to average 21 points during last week’s broadcast. Netizens pointed out that Communion is the only show with true informative ratings results in the report.
