Kate Hudson Reveals She Fought For Matthew McConaughey To Be Cast in ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’

Kate Hudson is opening up about How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days and revealing that she fought for the studio to cast Matthew McConaughey as Ben.

During a Life In Pictures talk at BAFTA in London over the weekend, the 43-year-old Glass Onion actress shared that the studio behind the flick were about to go in another direction for the lead role before she stepped in.

 

Kate told the crowd that she had “approval on everything” for the flick, and once she heard that casting was going to go another route, she fought back and campaigned for Matthew to get the role..

“I’m such a cheerleader for actors in our industry, but for rom-coms you need that guy to have chemistry with,” she shared at the panel. “We just kept hitting our heads against the wall, and the studio and I weren’t agreeing.”

According to Kate, former Paramount Pictures CEO Sherry Lansing had asked for her first pick to play Benjamin Barry, to which she suggested Matthew.

“We had an energy together, I wanted to play with him,” Kate said. “It felt kinetic. We both have a competitive spirit, we’re both super athletic. We like to push each other and I just love Matthew’s commitment to everything; he’s razor-focused. What you think he is, is is.”
