6 Years Later — Here’s What “Produce 101 Season 2” Group WANNA ONE’s Members Are Doing Today
All eleven members have made their own paths!
Back in 2017, netizens were thrilled to hear that the successful trainee survival show Produce 101 would be returning for a new season. While the first season created a girl group, the second would cast 101 male trainees hoping to make their debut.
On March 9, 2017, the trainees were introduced to the public on an episode of Mnet’s MCountdown, where they performed the song “나야나 (Pick Me).”
After several months, the final eleven were announced, and the group WANNA ONE was formed. WANNA ONE promoted as a group until 2019, when they went their separate ways.
Now, six years after their introduction, here’s what the winners of Produce 101 Season 2 are doing now!
11. Ha Sung Woon
Ha Sung Woon (also known as Sungwoon) joined the show as a member of HOTSHOT, but after WANNA ONE’s disbandment, he pursued a solo career. In addition to winning several artist awards, Sungwoon released eight mini-albums and ranked in the top five of the circle chart with each release.
After releasing his latest mini album, Sungwoon entered his mandatory enlistment on October 24, 2022, following a brief delay.
10. Bae Jinyoung
After WANNA ONE disbanded, Bae Jinyoung first held a mini fan-meeting tour and released a single album, Hard To Say Goodbye. In July 2019, he officially debuted as a member of C9 Entertainment‘s new boy group CIX.
Since debuting with CIX, Jinyoung has also acted in the web series, User Not Found and the film The Antique Shop.
9. Hwang Minhyun
Minhyun‘s group, NU’EST, had a significant boost in popularity after the show, and all of the members renewed their contracts in February 2019.
In addition to promoting with NU’EST, Minhyun had many solo projects, including appearing in the drama Live On and performing as Count Axel von Fersen in the musical production of Marie Antoinette.
NU’EST continued as a group until the contract with the company expired in 2022, and Aron, JR, and Ren did not renew their contracts.
Minhyun made his solo debut in February 2023 with his first mini-album Truth or Lie.
8. Yoon Jisung
Yoon Jisung jumped into solo activities after Wanna One, including releasing a mini-album and embarking on a fan meeting tour.
Jisung enlisted in the military in 2019 and was released in November 2020. He came back with his second album in April of the following year. The idol held an offline fan concert in December 2022 titled 2022 Yoon Jisung Fan Concert.
7. Lai Guanlin
Lai Guanlin was a trainee under Cube Entertainment, where he made his debut in a group project with Pentagon’s Wooseok.
In 2021, Guanlin’s exclusive contract with Cube was ended after two years of dispute. Since then, he has appeared in several dramas, including Love The Way You Are and Day Dream Confession, and appeared in ads for Tiffany & Co.
6. Park Woojin
Following individual activities, including a collaboration with American rapper A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Woojin debuted as a member of AB6IX.
The group are currently still active, and Woojin just released in first solo mini-album oWn on February 27.
5. Ong Seongwu
Seongwu held his first fan-meeting tour after WANNA ONE’s final concerts and has since released one mini-album.
He has also appeared in several acting projects, including the already-released Life Is Beautiful and Seoul Vibe and the upcoming projects Jung’s Ranch and Starlight Falls.
4. Kim Jaehwan
Kim Jaehwan has been active as a solo artist, releasing five mini-albums and several singles and OSTs.
Kim Jaehwan held solo concert in August 2022, and most recently appeared on Park Woojin’s b-side track “Self-Portrait.”
3. Lee Daehwi
After WANNA ONE’s disbandment, Lee Daewhi joined AB6IX alongside Park Woojin. In addition to his activities as a member of AB6IX, Daehwi has produced multiple songs, including “Slow” for Yoon Jisung and “Airplane” for IZ*ONE.
Daehwi hosted MCountdown from April 2019 to February 2021 and acted in the 2022 drama Love Is For Suckers.
2. Park Jihoon
Park Jihoon made his solo debut with the track “L.O.V.E” in March 2019, and has released multiple mini-albums since.
Jihoon also returned to acting after Produce 101, appearing in TV and web dramas, including the popular series Weak Hero Class 1. He is set to make his film debut later this year alongside actress Kim Jung Nan.
1. Kang Daniel
Kang Daniel saw great success with releasing his first mini album, Color on Me. After ending his contract with LM Entertainment, Daniel established his agency Konnect Entertainment, now home to other acts like former GFriend member Yuju.
Daniel has released multiple albums, worked with various brands and programs to release promotional singles, and recently embarked on his first world tour. The star also made his acting debut in Disney+‘s first-ever Korean original series Rookie Cops.
