Genting Malaysia To Cut 3000 Jobs; Resorts World Kijal & Resorts World Langkawi Reopen

Genting Malaysia Bhd is expected to cut up to 3000 jobs this month. The Edge reported that layoffs have already started taking place.

The company had over 20,000 employees back in 2019, but had to implement temporary salary cuts, especially to those in higher ranks. The group had hoped to avoid job losses but clearly the Covid-19 pandemic has taken a huge toll on them.

Although operations for Resorts World Genting in still suspended, 2 out of 4 hotels in Malaysia will be resuming business tomorrow (Thursday, 18th June). They are Resorts World Kijal and Resorts World Langkawi.

Meanwhile, Resorts World Genting and Resorts World Awana will remain close until further notice. Having said that, people have been flocking to Genting Highlands Premium Outlets for the current mega sale on all things fashion.
