Jackie Chan’s New Comedy Action Film “Vanguard” Airs on Lunar New Year

Jackie Chan (成龍) and director Stanley Tong’s (唐季禮) ninth collaboration Vanguard <急先鋒> will be competing in this year’s Lunar New Year time slot, and they won’t be holding anything back.

The veteran martial arts star will be going back to his roots of doing action in this new film, which follows a team of covert security agents who travel the world to take down a deadly mercernary organization.

It also stars Yang Yang (楊洋), Miya Muqi (母其彌雅) and Ai Lun (艾倫).

Doing movies for nearly 60 years, Jackie has a myriad of experiences and wisdom to share with his costars. Yang Yang told reporters that Jackie had taught him how to do a quick one-second magazine change with his gun, which had helped Yang Yang get more in his role.

Influenced by Jackie Chan movies growing up, Allen was inspired by old Jackie Chan films when presenting the humor in his character. He said, “A lot of what I did was improv. Making people laugh with no dialogue. I’ve learned that from Da Ge.”

Yang Yang added, “I hope the audience will be able to enjoy this hilarious, yet relaxing, yet thrilling action film.”

Vanguard was filmed in various locations around the world, including Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Vanguard will open in China on January 15th and in Taiwan on February 7th.
