‘Oppenheimer’ IMAX Tickets Are Up For Grabs On Craigslist, EBay & More For As Much as $1400!

Some fans are shelling out a lot of money for a chance to see Oppenheimer in IMAX.

According to reports, there was a listing on Craigslist that had tickets going for over $1,000!

The post in question, which was for a group of eight tickets, was asking $1,400 for them, according to the AV Club.

“My whole crew unfortunately has a funeral to attend and can’t make this showing of Oppenheimer. It’s at the AMC Lincoln Square 13 for the 70MM Imax theater,” the post read in a screenshot that was posted to Twitter/X.

Other listings have been spotted, asking around $100 up to $475 per ticket, depending on where they were located. Fans have also headed to eBay in search of tickets, which are asking just as much, if not more.

The tickets are in high demand due to the fact that there are only around 25 theaters in USA and Canada which have the capability to show 70mm film.

Director Christopher Nolan has admitted that watching the film on IMAX is one of the “best possible experiences” too.

“You rarely get the chance to really talk to moviegoers directly about why you love a particular format and why if they can find an IMAX screen to see the film on that’s great,” he told AP. “We put a lot of effort into shooting the film in a way that we can get it out on these large format screens. It really is just a great way of giving people an experience that they can’t possibly get in the home.”

He added, “We knew that this had to be the showstopper. We’re able to do things with picture now that before we were really only able to do with sound in terms of an oversize impact for the audience—an almost physical sense of response to the film.”
